West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has hailed the latest project benefiting people with disabilities launched by Clydebank’s Golden Friendships Club. Martin attended the opening night of Red Ramp Events launched by Jim McLaren and the team at Golden Friendships – at what is thought to be the world’s first community-based wheelchair entertainment venue.

The entertainment nights at their premises in Nairn Place in Dalmuir are set to run four times a year. The venue has fully accessible toilets and can accommodate up to 50 wheelchair users and 50 carer companions. Local MP Martin presented Jim and the team with a parliamentary motion he lodged in the House of Commons praising Golden Friendships for their contribution to breaking down the barriers faced by disabled people.

“I’m grateful for everything they do to improve the lives of disabled people across West Dunbartonshire and beyond.
